Melton Borough Council - Melton Mowbray Skate Park

Challenge
Since the current skate park was opened (Dec 2015) the skaters at the park had been requesting that the council put lights on the skate park. They needed a solution that would not disrupt the park, but provide a good lighting solution. The council applied for grant funding and from their successful bid were now able to look at lighting the park.

Solution
Melton Council contacted Solar Vision, who assessed the problem and offered up a cost effective solution. Solar Vision provided a lighting design for the skate park with a quotation which Melton used to support their successful grant application.

Once instructed Solar Vision performed a GPR survey of the site to ensure that there were no obstacles or services preventing the installation at the selected locations. The columns were then installed in line with our design and within the Councils budget.

Outcome
Thanks to the Councils funding initiative, the skate park now provides the skaters with a well-lit location for them to perform their skating tricks long into the evening, with lights out at 10 pm.

CO₂ Savings
Over 25 years this project will have saved our atmosphere 6.9 tonnes of COâ‚‚.
