Key Benefits of Hybrid Solar Lighting
Energy Efficiency
These units reduce dependency on grid electricity, resulting in lower operational costs, which is crucial when facing budget constraints. This cost efficiency is particularly important as authorities consider policies like turning off street lights to save money. With hybrid systems, lights can remain on enhancing public safety, in a more cost-effective manner.
We understand that local authorities are under pressure to meet aggressive carbon emission targets, especially those committed to environmental stewardship. By adopting hybrid solar street lighting, authorities can make significant strides towards these targets, reinforcing their commitment to sustainability.
How Does Hybrid Solar Street Lighting Work?
A hybrid solar system contains solar panels, a hybrid inverter and battery storage to create an energy solution that works without interruption. The solar panels use sunlight and convert it into electricity, whilst the battery storage stores energy to use later.
Once the light comes on, the CMS draws power from the battery as a priority. After the battery is almost depleted, the hybrid inverter switches the power to be drawn from the grid. On average this will save 75% of electricity costs over a year (9 months free electricity).
Hybrid solar street lighting can be used in residential, commercial, public and emergency capacities. They combine the best of solar and traditional energy sources that provide reliable, eco friendly and cost effective lighting for all the above spaces.

Reliable Performance
Street Lighting Managers within local authorities have historically hesitated to embrace solar lighting due to concerns about meeting high lighting standards year-round. Lighting classes P4, P5 and P6 demand specific luminance levels for roads, raising doubts about solar lights consistency.
Solar Vision's innovative hybrid model directly addresses these concerns. Unlike traditional solar street lights, our hybrid system seamlessly integrates solar energy with grid power, ensuring fail-safe performance.
When solar power is insufficient, the system automatically switches to grid power maintaining uninterrupted lighting while the solar recharges the batteries. Once the batteries are replenished, the system seamlessly transitions back to solar power, optimising energy usage and reducing dependency on the grid.
Easy Installations
A major advantage of hybrid solar lighting systems is their ease of installation, especially when replacing or retrofitting existing street lights. Traditionally, original units are replaced with similar ones. However, hybrid systems can be seamlessly integrated into the existing setup with minimal extra effort or cost. This simplifies the transition to sustainable.
