Bridgemary Park Skate Park
Challenge
Gosport Borough Council were researching the possibility of installing solar lights on their skate park at Bridgemary Park.
In doing their investigations in Jan 25 they contacted SolarVision Lighting Technologies (SVLT).
Gosport BC wanted to understand all the available solar lighting options so when they came to writing their specification for the lighting of the skate park, they would have knowledge of what the market could offer from a quality and price perspective.
SVLT were more than happy to provide Gosport with informed information of what the market could offer and what were the important things to include in their specification and possible pitfalls.
Solution
The Council took on board this advice and went way and drew up the specification which they believed was right for their project.
Gosport then in early August went to tender the project in line with their procedures.
SVLT decided to tender for the project and in doing so provided a lighting design for the skate park with a price to complete the work.
After some weeks SVLT were advise that we had won the project and had been selected to deliver the scheme.
The project was for the supply and installation of 3 Astral columns.
Outcome
By the end of August the solar lights were installed, running and under maintenance to the delight of the skateboard users and the council. As the product is fully programmable SVLT were able to programme the lights to go off at 10 pm in line with their planning requirements.
Once installed a member of the council who is a drone enthusiast sent up their drone on the evening to take pictures, which showed how good the light was from the air.
