York City Council
Hull Road Park
Article
We were joined by York Central MP Rachael Maskell, Lord Mayor of York Reverend Councillor Chris Cullwick and York's Sheriffs Lady Danielle Mason to inspect the newly installed solar lights along the promenade and youth café path at Hull Road Park.
These 21 Solar Wrap® street light columns have been installed over the course of just a week. They will help keep local residents safe as they use the park through the evenings, without disruption to the wildlife that inhabits the Environment Agency controlled Osbaldwick Beck.
The lights are fitted with PIR sensors which activate when motion is detected, the lights then increase brightness but then dim back down after some time set by the controller. The lights are 100% Off-Grid, preventing any carbon emissions and required no trench digging or excavation causing little to no disruption to park visitors.
We provided a turn-key solution and managed the whole process including creating a lighting design, carrying out a GPR survey, fitting and commissioning the columns to an ongoing maintenance agreement. To conclude we are happy to work with York City Council on this scheme and look forward to helping them with future lighting projects.
York decided to make this innovative step towards solar lighting and are of of the many councils making the decision to upgrade their street lighting.
CO₂ Savings
