1. Thinking “Cheaper is Better”


People generally assume all solar streetlights are created equal, and that a lower price means better value. Unfortunately, as with most things this is rarely true. Low-cost options often cut corners on crucial components like batteries, solar panels, and LED’s. The result is unreliable performance, dimmed lighting, and shorter lifespan.

2. Believing Batteries Are Created Equal


Not all batteries perform the same. For instance, outdated lead-acid batteries have a short lifespan and poor efficiency. Lithium batteries are a better choice, but even here, there are differences. Lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries offer superior heat resistance and life expectancy, lasting 7 to 9 years.

3. Overlooking Sunlight and Placement


Solar streetlights need direct sunlight to operate effectively. Installing them in shaded areas, under trees or beside tall buildings can lead to underperformance and limited lighting time.

It is the same for the solar panels, make sure you read the technical specifications and ensure they are designed to match your climate variations.

If they don’t then make sure the warranty offers a generous period.
