Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea

Powis Square

Challenge

Kensington and Chelsea wanted to provide lighting on a resident’s walkway so they could improve the access lighting. Not wanting to dig up the footpaths they asked Solar Vision if we could offer them a solution, bearing in mind that they wanted something that would compliment the light columns they already had in the street.

Solution

Solar Vision visited the site and then proposed our HERITAGE column which would provide the borough with that complimentary columns they were looking for.

Outcome

Kensington and Chelsea instructed SolarVision to proceed, so we instigated a GPR survey so we would know where the services were located within the areas that we were to install our columns. We then recommended where the columns should be installed, the borough consulted with the residents and the locations were agreed. As in most London locations the footpaths were heavily congested so we had to hand dig the column holes to ensure that no services were hit. After successfully install our very popular 5m Heritage columns the access ways are now providing the residents with the light they wanted so they can now safely navigate their way home.

Organisation: Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea
